The TempurPedic Rhapsody Bed and the MemoryFoam.com Rhapture-HD are both 12” thick medium to medium-firm memory foam mattresses produced in the USA, with 7.0+lb/ft3  density memory foam (also known as HD foam). The Rhapture-HD™ is about half the price, and (unlike Tempur-HD foam) is produced with environmentally friendly ECO-CELL™ and ECO-CELL HD™ memory foam.

About the Tempurpedic Rhapsody Bed

The 12” Tempurpedic Rhapsody Bed is one of Tempurpedic’s top selling memory foam mattresses, and their #1 selling luxury bed. It was introduced approximately 4 years ago due to large demand by individuals requesting extra pressure relief. It is also made to reduce the amount of heat retention that a mattress has.

The Tempurpedic Rhapsody Bed has a firmness somewhere between medium and medium firm. There is a variation associated with the temperature of the room that the Rhapsody Bed is kept in. Cold rooms will give the mattress a firmer feeling, while warmer rooms will give the mattress a softer feeling.

The two most striking features in our review of the Tempurpedic rhapsody mattress were the unique, luxurious cover and the use of Tempur-HD memory foam. This is a very recognizable bed.

The cover is made with a woven textile that has a cooling effect, similar to an Under Armour or Coolmax material. The side of the cover has
The Tempurpedic Rhapsody has 1.2” of Tempur-HD memory foam in the top layer of the mattress. Tempur-HD is a Tempurpedic’s version of high-density viscoelastic memory foam. It has a 7.2lb/ft3  density, and is better at relieving pressure than the standard Tempur Foam. It is known to be more conforming. It is firmer to the touch than standard Tempur foam.

Below the Tempur-HD layer is the standard Tempur support memory foam layer. There is 2.8” of Tempur support foam in the tempurpedic rhapsody mattress. This layer provides a nice conforming support effect for the Tempur-HD layer above it. Tempur foam is 5.3lb/ft3  density. It is considered the gold standard as far as density is concerned, although it is known for being too soft in warm rooms, and too firm in cooler rooms.

The memory foam layers sit on top of (2) 4” 1.8lb/ft3 density base layers. These are standard polyurethane base foam layers. They contain convoluted (egg-crate like) tops which act as airflow layers. The top airflow layer does serve to keep the bed a little cooler, while the lower airflow layer is pretty much useless, and only serves as a selling point for salesmen.

It is a fantastic mattress, but is needlessly expensive.

About the Rhapture-HD™ by MemoryFoam.com

The Rhapture-HD™ is produced to nearly identical specifications of the Tempurpedic Rhapsody. We use an eco-friendly 8lb ECO-CELL HD™ memory foam instead of the dirty 7lb Tempur Foam. The covers are basically the same, with a Coolmax material in the top of ours, and identical microsuede sides. Both beds come with airflow layers, strong warranties, and provide unmatched comfort relieving experiences.

The big difference comes in price. Try the Rhapture-HD™ today and see why so many people are choosing us over the national brand.
