Cost

There's no doubt memory foam is an investment. It's an investment in your body, in your overall quality of life, but it's also a financial investment.

As with anything, usually you get what you pay for. The higher cost memory foams are better performing and longer lasting than lower cost, so we encourage you to consider the cost of a new topper.

Consider also, that buying a topper is significantly less than replacing your entire mattress, so you're already ahead of the game. You can completely change your mattress feel and performance for a fraction of the cost of a new mattress.

Density

Density is often misunderstood, but is a critical factor in the performance and longevity of your topper, especially since the topper is not sewn in to a mattress.

There are several links to learn more about density and what it does, but the basic point is that higher density means better support and longer life. Period.

With that in mind, here's a breakdown of the 4 density options we offer at MemoryFoam.com.

Elation Twighlight, 4lb

The 4lb density is the lightest weight density we offer, and is the least expensive. This density is perfect for occasional use (such as guest rooms, college dorms, etc...) or situations where you simply want to refresh your bed, but not necessarily correct serious sleeping issues. Twilight is guaranteed for 5 years.

Elation Sunset, 5lb

5lb density is the same density of Tempur-Pedic® and is probably the most popular density on the market today. We have found it to be the perfect balance of value and performance, and is perfect for everyday use. Our 5lb memory foam is guaranteed for 10 years.

Elation Sunrise, 6lb

6lb is a higher quality, breathable memory foam and has proven to be a better investment over time. Because the added density provides better support (without adding firmness), you might consider 6lb if you are dealing with minor pain issues, or have a need for better spinal alignment and support. 6lb memory foam is guaranteed for 15 years.

Elation Dawn HD, 8lb

8lb memory foam is the highest rated memory foam on the market. It is simply the best memory foam topper money can buy, and is built for maximum support and comfort. 8lb memory foam is designed to support greater weight without wearing down, yet still maintaining a softer feel. 8lb memory foam is guaranteed for 20-years.

Thickness

2 Inches

A 2" layer will provide a minimum level of support, and will have a basic Memory Foam feel. 2" is enough to change the surface feel of your mattress, but most people will "bottom out" and feel the existing mattress underneath.

3 Inches

In our experience, we have found 3" to be a "sweet spot" for memory foam toppers, regardless of the state of your mattress or the density of the memory foam. Most memory foam mattresses contain a 3" comfort layer. It's enough for most people to get the benefits of memory foam if they sleep on their stomach or back.

4 Inches

If you have a very hard mattress and you are looking to totally transform it to a memory foam feel, or, if you are predonimately a side sleeper, then you probably need a 4" topper, for maximum support and comfort.
